COVID-19 RESPONSE
The COVID outbreak was a devistating event that left many of us frightened, iscolated and cautious. At Gentle Care, it’s all about people and thier safety, taking a wholistic approach to curb the spread and keep everyone protected. Here’s the plan…
PHASE 1
All precautionary measures will include, but are not limited to, recommendations from CDC and AHCA/NCAL, as well as state and local health agencies. The following Infection Control protocols will remain in place:
-
- The building will be restricted to authorized personnel and will be closed to non-essential visitors (including but not limited to families, physicians, therapists, vendors, and others).
- Upon entry, all authorized personnel must complete a Health Screening, have their temperatures taken, wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and perform proper hand washing.
- Residents will remain in their apartments to self-quarantine.
- In-Room Dining will be offered in the residents’ apartments under the oversight of Executive Chef & Director of Dining Services.
- In-Room Activities & Programming will be offered in the residents’ apartments under the one-on-one instruction of the Director of Activities.
- Hospitality beverage carts will make regular rounds (outside resident apartments) to ensure proper hydration among residents.
- Limited family visitation hours, with a limited number of people, will be available in designated outdoor areas, with physical distancing protocols in place and wearing masks at all times, and Health Screenings of visitors in place at all times, under the oversight of the Executive Director. Families will be allowed to use our Mobile Scheduling Platform to arrange for visits with our residents. Inclement weather may affect outdoor visits.
- Staff will disinfect communal areas frequently throughout the day.
- All individuals in the building will wear proper PPE and practice physical distancing.
- Off-campus trips and appointments involving residents will be suspended.
- Telehealth appointments will be offered, encouraged and coordinated as needed by the resident and their assigned physician.
- Any resident who is symptomatic or tests positive will be cared for by our COVID Care Team, designated for COVID-19-specific assignments, allowing us to restrict and control the staff who enter those apartments.
- Regular testing of residents and staff will remain in place.
PHASE 2: Easing Restrictions Inside our Community
Assuming that our community has met specific requirements from federal, state and local government – including the 14-day minimum period of not having any active/confirmed COVID-19 cases (residents or staff) – we may remain in this phase while still maintaining all Infection Control protocols and other precautionary measures:
- Limited communal dining will be available in common areas, with physical distancing protocols and wearing of masks (when residents are not eating or drinking) under the oversight of Executive Chef & Director of Dining Services, as well as the placement of a dining room supervisor to ensure proper compliance.
- Limited group activities will be available in designated indoor and/or outdoor areas, with physical distancing protocols in place and wearing masks at all times, under the oversight of the Director of Activities.
- Limited appointments for Hair Styling will be available in our Salón, with physical distancing protocols in place and wearing masks, under the oversight of our Director of Activities. Residents may use our Mobile Scheduling Platform to schedule appointments or book offline.
PHASE 3: Increased Access on Campus
Assuming our community has met specific requirements from federal, state and local government – including a minimum of 14 days in Phase One – we may enter into this phase while still maintaining all Infection Control protocols and other precautionary measures:
- Increased use of communal dining in common areas, with physical distancing protocols and wearing of masks (when residents are not eating or drinking) under the oversight of Executive Chef & Director of Dining Services, as well as the placement of a dining room supervisor to ensure proper compliance.
- Limited group activities will be available in indoor areas, with physical distancing protocols in place at all times, under the oversight of the Director of Activities.
- Limited group outings/appointments/activities with physical distancing protocols and wearing masks at all times, under the oversight of the Director of Activities.
- Expanded use of common areas for socialization, with physical distancing protocols and wearing masks at all times, under the oversight of the Director of Activities.
- Expanded use of small-group religious services and discussions.
- Expanded use of gym, community room, library and hallways.
- Limited family visitation hours, with a limited number of people, will be available in designated indoor areas, primarily in our main Community Room, with physical distancing protocols in place and wearing masks at all times, and Health Screenings of visitors in place at all times, under the oversight of the Executive Director. Families will be allowed to use our Mobile Scheduling Platform to arrange for visits with our residents.
PHASE 4: “New Normal” in Service
This phase allows our community to experience a “new normal” on our campus. However, moving to Phase Three will require the state of New Jersey to initiate the move, requiring an executive order from the governor’s office.
Thank you for your support of our precautionary measures and for helping us reduce the spread of COVID-19. Remember, we’re in it together.
